No matter when you visit Edinburgh, take a trip to one of the city's greatest sporting arenas, the BT Murrayfield Stadium.
It’s home to Scottish Rugby Union matches, although it’s also used for other sports events, and creates an electric atmosphere for music concerts.
For any Rugby fans visiting Scotland, a trip to Edinburgh Rugby Stadium is a must.
Edinburgh Rugby Stadium is officially known as BT Murrayfield Stadium, or more simply, Murrayfield.
It’s home to Scottish Rugby Union matches, although it’s also used for other sports events, and creates an electric atmosphere for music concerts.
Many locals will remember James Brown playing at the Live8 concert in 2005, sharing his musical genius with thousands of music lovers from across Scotland.
You can book your tickets for a public guided tour of BT Murrayfield Stadium when the crowds have gone.
There are two public guided tours a day, Monday-Saturday, at 11am and at 2:30pm, lasting around 90 minutes. Book your place in advance online.
You can also book a private tour, for you, your friends and your family.
BT Murrayfield Stadium is based in the Western outskirts of the city centre, making it a walkable visit, or catch one of the many buses that passes the stadium from the city centre.
There is a car park, however on match days it is reserved.
If you can walk, join the thousands of fans who take over the streets walking to and from the stadium.
The air is filled with the sounds of singing and laughter, no matter who wins. Even non Rugby fans are drawn into the atmosphere that rugby days bring to Edinburgh.
If you've not got a ticket sorted for a match, there are plenty of friendly bars and pubs to watch the game.
During matches, holiday accommodation sells out fast, especially holiday homes near BT Murrayfield Stadium.
It’s always best to book in advance to get a place nearby.
However, if your holiday accommodation is further from the stadium, don’t panic.
You’ll have no difficulties getting to the stadium on the day, thanks to Edinburgh’s handy transport network of trams and buses.
Murrayfield has a seating capacity of 67,144.
Bringing together this number of passionate sports fans creates a unique atmosphere during the matches.
The roar of rugby fans can be heard for miles on match days, spreading that passion across the city.
Murrayfield is a hotspot for activities to do whether you’re travelling alone or with family. Edinburgh Zoo is in Murrayfield and is a fantastic place to visit for the day.
You’ll also be able to get your skates on and whizz around Murrayfield Ice Rink, home of the Edinburgh Capitals ice hockey team.
