The Edinburgh apartments funding surgical training worldwide

Two luxury apartments in Edinburgh’s historic Old Town are quickly becoming some of the capital’s most sought-after places to stay, combining spacious city living with hotel-style service - while also helping fund surgical training around the world.

only minutes from Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, the luxury apartments offer guests the best of both
The Gait @ Hill Square opened to guests in May 2024 and has since become a firm favourite among visitors to the capital.
Now, its newly launched bigger sister apartment, The Fetlock @ Hill Square, which welcomed its first guests at the beginning of May this year, is already proving equally popular, with bookings rapidly filling its calendar and early reviews receiving glowing praise.
Situated beside Surgeons Quarter and only minutes from Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, the luxury apartments offer guests the best of both worlds; stylish self-catered accommodation with access to the services and amenities of a premium hotel, including a gym.
Guests staying at the apartments can enjoy hotel reception support, housekeeping, luggage storage and optional breakfast services through Ten Hill Place Hotel.
One recent guest review described the experience as:
“Great place to stay as a large party. Short walk to town but near loads of restaurants. Really clean and easy to check in via the hotel. The hotel also can keep hold of your bags after check out.”
The apartments are owned by Ten Hill Place Hotel, which is operated by Surgeons Quarter and owned by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Opened in November 2006, the hotel is unique in the city as all profits generated go directly back into training surgeons worldwide.
The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh has been caring for people since it was founded in 1505, with its long-standing commitment to innovation and medical excellence reflected throughout the hotel and guest experience.
Located in one of Edinburgh’s most historic neighbourhoods, Ten Hill Place Hotel has built a strong reputation for combining contemporary comfort with a meaningful social purpose; giving guests what it describes as “one more excellent reason” to choose Surgeons Quarter.
The apartments are exclusively marketed by The Edinburgh Address, a local female-run small business with strong ties to the Edinburgh community.
The partnership has helped showcase the growing demand for luxury apartment accommodation in the capital, particularly among larger family groups, festival visitors and international travellers seeking more space and flexibility than traditional hotel rooms can provide.
The Gait, which sleeps up to ten guests, has become especially popular with families and group travellers thanks to its spacious interiors, elegant design and central location.
Meanwhile, The Fetlock, sleeping up to 12 guests, is already making a strong first impression with guests, continuing the same design-led approach while offering an even larger luxury stay option in the heart of the city.

With strong early demand and excellent guest feedback, both apartments are fast establishing themselves as standout additions to Edinburgh’s thriving hospitality scene.
